I have found that eCos does not support the APIC interrupt controller unless 
the multi-processor (SMP) support is enabled. However, this does not fix the 
problem as the SMP code is not compatible with XEON proccessors either.The code 
hangs in the cyg_hal_cpu_release function waiting for the second logical CPU.

Running without SMP enabled, uses the wrong method for clearing interrupts.
