Just to add a bit more to that. Ascom has contracted RedHat to write
the existing USB support. What makes is hard is that most silicon is
broken. While doing the implementation RedHat found that the SA1110
has many undocumented bugs. Its not even capable of doing what the
standard says it should do. We have similar experience with another
devices. 

Anyone considering writing a USB driver should double there time
estimates and make sure they have good contacts to the manufacture.
