arm-elf-gcc/as and progbits

I'm getting a warning while compiling/assembling my source:
file.s:23: Warning: rest of line ignored; first ignored character is `,'
This message is produced by the assembler and it occurs because of this
line:
.section .text.thetaFcn__Fffff,"ax",@progbits
I discovered that if I manually delete "@progbits", then I can assemble
without the warnings. However, I'm concerned that there's a more
fundamental problem lurking. Has anyone else seen this occur?
BTW, I'm using the example Makefile part of the eCos 1.3 distribution. The
gcc flags are:
CXXFLAGS = $(CFLAGS) -IInclude
EXTRACFLAGS = -Wall -I$(PKG_INSTALL_DIR)/include -ffunction-sections
-fdata-sections
EXTRACXXFLAGS = $(EXTRACFLAGS) -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti -fvtable-gc
-finit-priority
