'target.ld' is just a linker control file - it does not contain
mentions of specific file(s) [except for a few special ones].
You are probably running into problems with how libraries work.
How do you expect "xxxxinit" to be referenced/called? This must
be from one of the ".o" files being linked, or a direct result
thereof, or else it will be not included (based on the linker's
handling of libraries)
Perhaps with a little more detail we can help more.
