Apologies in advance if I am wrong, but on the eCos web site there is a
link (in Contributions and Third Party Projects) to an Hitachi H8/300 port
for
inclusion in the eCos v2 release
(http://homepage2.nifty.com/ysato/eCos/index.en.html).
These Hitachi Processors are AFAIK classifed as 16 bit by Hitachi
(see http://www.hitachi-eu.com/hel/ecg/products/micro/8_16bit/index.html),
so this
might indicate that a port of eCos to a 16-bit processor has been already
done and
could also be a starting point for porting to another 16 bit processor.
Best Regards,
Roland Rosier
