Re: redboot booting problem

hi,
I am doing a platform porting for xycom 654 board. I built the floppy image. By the way xycom board is like a pc board with pci bus and etc.

"like" a PC? This could well be the source of your problems! Have you tried the image on a "normal" PC to check it works at all?

While I am trying to boot the redboot with the floppy, there appears some dots(.) while the floppy LED is glowing. then after some time it just stops. Nothing is appearing like redboot prompt. I assume the booting fails in the middle. It's not getting the stage of redboot prompt.

It could be at the point where it's finished loading and redboot is starting, and perhaps probing the PCI bus. Any differences between this board and a true PC could cause problems then.

way I am copying the redboot.bin image in the install tree by the followin g command

dd conv=sync if=redboot.bin of=/dev/fd0

That's right.
