I don't know if this is helpful, but the usr/std jumper is AFAICT
an inversion of one of the address lines for the flash(to switch
the first and the second mb), with the twist that the flash does
not have the same sector size for all sectors(as is indicated
in the Atmel data sheets and in eCos source comments). eCos manages
reasonably well without supporting the varying sector size, since
Redboot to the varying sector sizes(jumper std) is probably
flashed using JTAG or something else than Redboot in practice.
After some help from this mailinglist, I managed to run applications
using the redboot ram version, though I forget if I
had to change the memory layout.
I haven't and I probably will not be adding the memory expansion
card you are describing, so I'm not familiar with any issues there.
