Ok, this is what i get on single step:

(gdb) load
Loading section .rom_vectors, size 0x40 lma 0x40000

Loading section .rodata, size 0x2a0 lma 0x4f97c
Loading section .data, size 0x3e4 lma 0x4fc1c
Start address 0x40040, load size 65536

(gdb) next
Cannot find bounds of current function
(gdb) step
Cannot find bounds of current function
(gdb)

is this somethin to do with the ld script..some sections 
missing, if yes, what r they and how to solve...else any other
suggestions..
