Well (I haven't looked at the specs yet); even if you don't use the PC
console; due to the rather broken architecture of the PC an 8042 in some
capacity is required to enable the A20 gate.
At my prior job we built an embedded x86 computer that had no console
however we still had 8042 logic in there for the A20 gate.
I'll take a look at the specs when I have a moment (kinda swamped right
now) and see if anything looks fishy.
