using ecosconfig and configTool for other projects

Hi there,

A friend of mine pointed to me out that the above tools are not that ecos
specific and could be used for any other project ( instead of the autotools
for example ). Is there any interest in isolating the tool from ecos specific
naming schemes so that it can be transparantly used for other projects ?

It would be great if the ecos community would bring these tools to all kind of
software projects.

As a sidequestion, is the .cxx extension still obligatory for C++ programs or
is .cpp also accepted ?

with kind regards,
Peter
