This is just a suggestion. I have NOT done it yet.
1) Find an 802.11 chipset that accepts 802.3 packets
and handles the 802.11 specific stuff for you.
2) Port one of the ecos ethernet drivers to this chip
The original prism chipsets did this (if my
interpretation of the documents is right). On page
4-29 of the 'prism driver programmers manual' RM025
(use google) it says ...
"In this way, the Host Software can easily be adapted
to the requirements of higher software layers.
When these layers are ?802.11 aware?, the Host
Software uses the 802.11 format part of the Header
Info. Otherwise, when those layers assume the 802.3
frame format, the PRISM MAC handles the differences
between the 802.3 and the 802.11 formats without
further involvement of the Host Software."
