Hi Warwick,
thanks a lot for your quick answer. To be sincere it seems that you are
a bit forward than me. I got the quartus software to work in Windows and
i am tryint it to do it over Linux.
Respect to eCos, I am trying to solve a problem that appears when several
cygwin versions are crossed in my system. One of them is relatively new and
I installed it to have the wget command in order to download ecos sources.
The other is the quartus own version. Now i am trying to compile an ecos
configuration with the gnu pro tools distributed with quartus software. I
already compiled eCos configurations with the tools available at ecos site.
However, from the experiments i did, i suspect this does not work, so i am
trying to do it with gnupro tools.
I was not aware of the patch you mention, altough i suspected some kind
of modification of the port would be necessary. It is because the current
port is only for EPXA10 board? It is actually necesary a patch?... I will
keep you up to date if you want. If this is uninteresting for the forum
I can
do it with your mail if you want.

fernando

Hi,
I am trying to run eCos 2.0 example applications over excalibur EPXA1.
I made a default configuration and compiled the examples to generate
the .elf file. I tried to load and run it through the arm-elf-gdb
provided
with the arm gnu pre-compiled toolchain provided in the ecos site.
This was
in a Linux PC.
I connect arm-elf-gdb remotely to the gdbstub aplication running on a
Windows PC. This PC is connected through the Byteblaster II cable to the
Excalibur. It seems that the elf file loads right, but when I run
it, i obtain
swi 0x50 error appearing at the hyperterminal. It is a problem with this
arm-elf -gdb? (The configuration of the stripe that I use is that by
default with the getting started example).
I have read the past posts, but it did not gave me clues enough to
solve this.
If somebody already ran eCos on excalibur board, is there some tricky
points to keep into account (maybe variables to modify, memory map,
compilation swichtes, toolchain versions,...)
Thanks in advance for your help
regards!
Hi Fernando,
I saw from your post to the eCos mailing lists that you are trying to
get eCos working on the Altera EPXA1 board. I am also doing this but
am yet to get the machine to boot. Could I ask you how far you have
got in terms of running eCos and redboot on the board, and how you did
it, eg. did you use Quang Huang's patch (
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/ecos-patches/2003-07/msg00060.html ) or
did you make the port from scratch?
I am using the patch, which was against the cvs source tree as of
around february 2003, and am currently stuck with my programs being
loaded at 0x40000h, rather than at 0x0h. Any information you could
give would be greatly appreciated, and likewise if I can answer any of
your questions, i'd be happy to help.
Kind regards,
Warwick Brown
