Redboot Built w/o Ethernet?

Hello list,

I’m new to eCos and I have been reading the documentation and trying to get my first project to work.

The first thing I tried building with eCos was Redboot. I used the i386 PC target template (pc_v2_0) and the Redboot package. The build worked, and I was able to put the executable on a floppy and boot a PC to a Redboot prompt. But my current build has no network support. Redboot does not recognize the command “ip_address”. When I view my Redboot.ecc file (using configtool) I see that both ethernet packages are greyed out (Intel 82559 and PC board). I also can not change the default IP address in

“Redboot ROM Monitor -> Build Redboot ROM ELF image -> Redboot Netorking”

How do I enable Ethernet?

Currently my build environment is Debian. Is anyone using any of the BSD’s for their build environments? Any problems or quirks with this?
I'm using ecos-2.0. I have been reading both the redboot and ecos users guide. I also have the ecos book by Massa.

I have about a 1000 more questions, ;-)
Thanks for your time
roger
