Uncompressing Linux...

My Redboot falls into the abyss when I execute either "go" or "exec" to boot a Linux kernel.
Interestingly I don't even see the "Uncompressing Linux....done. Booting the kernel" message.
Does that mean my problem is in Redboot itself or in my Linux kernel?

I can execute (using "go") another RAM image of redboot OK.
I am wondering if Redboot is responsible for uncompressing the kernel before it hands over
and that somehow I have misconfigured some eCos package somewhere???
