The buffer is not permanent. There are three buffers, and data is processed
from SD, to B1, from B1 to B2, etc. To do it in chunks means the algorithm has
to be aware of boundary conditions. So it has to be modified to align
dynamically sized records with memory size and the state machine has to handle
a stream of chunks rather than operate out of one big chunk. It is far more
memory efficient to change the algorithm which needed to be changed anyway. It
is more a matter of schedules than what is the right thing to do.
