Standard Intel architecture PC running Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Linux.
eCos has been tested with both the English and Japanese versions of NT 4.0, and with Red Hat Linux 4.2 (with the glibc2 package installed), 5.0 and 5.1.
Support for any platform except for Windows NT 4.0 is beta. In particular, it is only possible to rebuild the GNUPro compiler toolchain on Windows NT 4.0 and UNIX.
Enough disk space for the installed distribution:
Approximately 174 MB of free disk space for the MN10300 distribution.
Approximately 182 MB of free disk space for the TX39 distribution.
Approximately 184 MB of free disk space for the PowerPC distribution.
If you are downloading the Sourceware distribution from Cygnus's Sourceware site, you will also need space to store that image and to compile GNUPro and eCos from source.

One 16550-based serial port on the PC
A Matsushita MN10300 standard evaluation board with eCos CygMon Debug PROMs installed
One standard modem (straight connection) serial cable to connect the serial port on the PC to the evaluation board. An optional second serial cable can be used for diagnostic I/O.
If you will be using the TX39 JMR3904 board, you will also need:
One 16550-based serial port on the PC
JMR-TX3904 RISC Processor Reference Board with eCos CygMon Debug EPROMs installed
