Cygwin isn't built for 64 bit machines. There had been some effort by at
least one person on this list to create some Cygwin support for Alpha
machines. This was quite a while ago and I don't thing the effort was
complete. You can check back in the email archives if you want to try
to find the status there. In general, I wouldn't expect Cygwin to just
run on 64 bit architectures. If you're interested in getting things going
in this environment, you're welcome to spearhead this effort.
