Summary: configure a ecos
Product: eCos
Version: 2.0
Platform: Other
OS/Version: HostOS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: normal
Component: Other

Iam new member for this ECOS development group. Now,i working in a embedded
system (ecos). While installing ecos in a system, both source(host) and target as
to specifiy and according to operating system (windows or linux) it may varies.
So our host system is linux operating system and target aboard consist of
Motorola Powerpc 850dsl 50 Mhz
Memory interface is SDRAM 16MB
32 bit Flash 2MB
8 bit BOOTROM 512kb.
First step:
Intially i download necessary tools from website
http://ecos.sourceware.org/build-toolchain.html
Which includes
GNU Binary utilites
binutils-2.13.1.tar.bz2(9.5MB)
GNU Compiler Collection
gcc-core-3.2.1.tar.gz(12.8MB)
gcc-g++-3.2.1.tar.gz(2.5MB)
Newlib
Newlib-1.11.0.tar.gz(4.2MB)
GDB
Gdb-5.3.tar.bz2(10.7MB)
Insight-5.3.tar.bz2(17.0MB)
After that i followed instruction mention in this site:
Like configure and installing a tools in a host system.
It as run successfully in the host system
Second step:
I download ecos 2.0,user manual and reference manual from the website
http://ecos.sourceware.org/ and bunzip ecos tar file. After that i followed
instruction which mention in (read.host) file in ecos directory which created
at extracting a tar file.Next i run ecos by a command
cos/tools/bin/configure.it as executed and graphical ecos Window as open.
In that window,i want to specifiy target system. But i have own design targed
board
Which includes
Motorola Powerpc 850dsl 50 Mhz
Memory interface is SDRAM 16MB
32 bit Flash 2MB
8 bit BOOTROM 512kb.
I have our own downloading tools which convert executed file in to hex format
and
Transfer hex file in to target board in (serial or Ethernet way).
Doubt in configuring:
So I want to configure tools and libraries in ecos window(GUI) then I want to
write application (in C languge)andCompile with ecos powerpc compiler, link
with linker
Which have necessary file. finally convert into executed file.
So can you guide me ,what the next step i want to follow in configuring tools
in ecos
