Currently, aliases are only supported if the configuration supports FLASH 
configuration information (fconfig).  The simple RAM configuration you built
did not, so %{FREEMEMLO} is not understood.

The best way around this would be to simply replace %{FREEMEMLO} in your
example with a valid number, e.g. 0x30000.

I don't see the usefulness of supporting this construct when there is no
'fconfig' command - it would cost quite a lot of memory at the benefit of
supporting only %{FREEMEMLO} and %{FREEMEMHI}
