I must have missed something. How do I run gdb over Ethernet? I thought it
only supported remote connections via serial. Could someone point me
to a doc or give explicit instructions?

You can do either. But for development it's better to continue using
RedBoot off the floppy, and then download your programs during development
using GDB, over serial or ethernet.
