problems with IPs and glibc 2.1.1pre2

I don't know if this is a known problem or not, but I haven't heard
anything about it yet.  For some reason lynx and lftp have problems
connecting to servers when you tell them an IP, but with lynx it will work
if you have http:// before it.  I haven't had a chance to look through them
to see what function they're using that isn't working, but both programs
report that it's an unknown or badly formed host.  I haven't had a chance
to go back to pre1 yet, but I should have time to do that this weekend.
