Aldy,
  Please test the current glibc cvs. On two different G4 Powermacs,
a RH 8.0-based ppclinux box and a debian ppc sid box, I am able
to build current glibc cvs and it now passes make check fine. Also
I don't think your soft-fp patches have been removed...just rearranged
so they don't conflict with the normal fpu enabled build.
